Epic wait times…?
I have something important to confess, my friends: I’ve never attended the grand opening of a brand-new theme park.
I mean, it’s not like theme parks are opening left and right around the world, and I was just a young lad when Islands of Adventure opened way back in 1999. Now, with the chance to visit Epic Universe on May 22, 2025, I decided to pass the baton to my friends at Famvia so they can bring you all the news from this highly anticipated destination in less than five months.
One question that I hear people asking is… how packed will the park actually be? We all know that it’s going to be crowded, but is it going to be theme-park-crowded or I-cant-even-get-into-Florida crowded? Is it actually worth it to visit Epic Universe in the first few weeks, or even months? Good questions.
Pros and cons

Of course, you’ll need to prepare for your day at Epic Universe if you plan to visit on May 22. Be sure to pack drinks and snacks, as you’ll likely spend a long time waiting in line. I expect most big attractions will have wait times of 2 to 4 hours, making it challenging to explore an entire land in a single day.
Yes, I said land, not the entire theme park. You’ll probably need several days to experience every ride at Epic Universe, especially since it’s expected to be at full capacity for at least the first few months.
Keep in mind that Epic Universe is opening in May, one of the hottest months in Florida. The large crowds will only amplify the sensation of heat, so we recommend bringing plenty of drinks and maybe even one of those funny portable fans. If you dislike crowds, heat, and long wait times, you might want to consider visiting Epic Universe at a later date, such as September or early October.

The good news is that attending opening weekend means you’ll be part of a once-in-a-lifetime event. Like watching your team compete in the finals of an important championship or seeing an exclusive show from your favorite band, this is a moment that happens only once. You’ll be among the first to explore the Ministry of Magic, the Donkey Kong Coaster, or Stardust Racers. For many guests, being there and experiencing all that magic for the first time is worth any wait in the world, and I completely understand how they feel.
Are you planning to attend the grand opening of Epic Universe?
What about you, do you have plans to visit Epic Universe in May? Do you think the lines will be massive? We should make a fun bet to guess which ride will have the longest wait time and which one will be crowned the best. I’m super excited about it and can’t wait to visit later this year!
