The best ride at Epic Universe to bring your Tinder date on
I'm the kind of guy who thinks every theme park should have one carousel and one roller coaster. C’mon, those are classic attractions, and they add so much charm to the places we love to visit and take amazing pictures in!
Thankfully, Epic Universe has brought us Constellation Carousel - a classic attraction that tries to do a few new things but, deep down, it's the exact ride we're used to. So yes, it’s a great one for families, toddlers, and anyone looking to have a good time with the love of their life.
What we like about Constellation Carousel
Hey, it’s a carousel! You’ll know if you like it or not even before setting foot in Epic Universe. Constellation Carousel, however, does things a bit differently. It isn’t a traditional merry-go-round where you just spin in circles like in Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel at Magic Kingdom, or the Carou-Seuss-el at Islands of Adventure. Instead, you move through different turntables on the floor, similar to the system used in Alien Swirling Saucers at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
I think the best thing about this one is the artistic design. This place looks beautiful, with creatures that are a mix of real-life animals and mythical beings straight out of a fantasy movie, all inside a stunning arena full of lights, moons, and stars. It looks gorgeous, especially at night. Each ride vehicle also has its own light source, making them look like gentle fireflies slowly floating around. Kids will love it. Lovebirds might enjoy it even more.
It’s also cool that your vehicle can rotate 360 degrees and move up and down slightly as it glides across the turntables. Again, you’re moving slowly, as expected from a carousel, so you won’t ever get dizzy. I don’t think switching from a traditional carousel to the turntable system necessarily makes it better, but it’s a fun gimmick that helps set it apart from the competition.
What we don’t like about Constellation Carousel
I mean… it’s a… uhh… carousel? There’s nothing really bad about it. Maybe you prefer the traditional merry-go-round, but I like that Epic at least tried to do something new.
There is one main drawback we can talk about, and that’s the queue. It offers minimal protection from the sun or rain. You know what that means, right? It’s a bad idea to come here at noon during the hot Florida summer. At least queue times for Constellation Carousel are usually short, and you shouldn’t expect to wait more than 10 to 20 minutes to ride.
One good strategy is to come here at night as you make your way through Epic Universe. Not only do you get to see the ride all lit up - and it looks incredible - but it also won’t be as hot. That’s a win-win!
Conclusion
Constellation Carousel is a fun distraction and a great ride for families with toddlers or anyone looking for a romantic moment. The art design is fantastic, and the ride looks amazing at night. For adults and thrill seekers chasing the most popular rides Epic has to offer, this one’s a skip, but you might want to stop by if the wait times are under 10 minutes… and if it isn’t scorching hot.
