A battle of Epic proportions that may never have a definitive winner
Let me be upfront, I don’t have a crystal ball. If I did, I’d be playing the lottery instead of trying to predict whether the Donkey Kong coaster will outshine the How to Train Your Dragon ride. But since I’m not a magician, I’ll stick to what I know: theme parks. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with that! There’s also nothing wrong with being ridiculously hyped for a brand-new theme park that’s set to open its doors in less than four months.
I can’t stop thinking about Epic Universe, and I want to share that excitement with you, dear Famvia reader. Today, let’s talk about rides, or, more specifically, the ride we believe will be the best in the entire park.
I know, I know, this is hard (and serious) business. We don’t even have the complete list of rides and attractions coming to Epic Universe yet. Some rides have only limited details available, with no official videos released. And let’s not forget that picking the “best” ride is highly subjective, even for theme parks that have been around for decades.
For example, what’s the best ride at Islands of Adventure? Is it the VelociCoaster or Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure? And at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Rise of the Resistance or Tower of Terror? As you can see, it’s no easy task to choose just one. But hey, let’s give it our best shot.
When it comes to Epic Universe, I’ll get straight to the point: I think the best and most popular ride in the entire park will be Battle at the Ministry, located in the Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic zone. Rumors suggest this ride will be a mix of Tower of Terror and Rise of the Resistance - two incredible attractions, as you probably know.
As the flagship ride of the Harry Potter land, we can already expect top-notch visual effects and an incredible queue experience. I’m betting the in-ride visuals will be just as impressive. I’m anticipating a trackless vehicle that takes guests through multiple immersive set pieces, hopefully with some fun surprises and drops along the way.
If not Battle at the Ministry, my pick would be with Stardust Racers. This is the main roller coaster at Epic Universe and, in fact, is a dual coaster similar to Dueling Dragons which was very popular in Islands of Adventure. Universal promises that this will be the fastest, tallest coaster they have ever created, which is enough to get us hyped. Seriously, if this is similar to the VelociCoaster I’ll already be very happy. I want a coaster that is fast, with a lot of airtime and that is very comfortable. Give us that, Stardust!
