Brace yourselves, as technology and a magical experience are about to join forces with Disney’s new free-roaming Star Wars Droids!
The cute and amazing baby angels from the Star Wars universe have finally landed (and roamed) at Disneyland California, and Disney shared MORE details about them.
These are the Droids you're looking for
Disney’s “droids-in-training” have new technology that allows them to interact with guests inside Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Take note, they don’t simply interact but have their own personalities and can move fluidly. Disney imagineers outdid themselves once again, right as they also decided to show their amazing new technology at Disney Shanghai!
Disney’s imagineers worked thoroughly to make the “droids-in-training” as expressive as they could. Their engineers developed an electromechanical system that enables droids to walk and move while their animators artistically shaped the droids’ personalities. They can also dance and get mad. Just like R2-D2 and BB-8!
In fact, Disney executives, CEO Bob Iger and Chairperson of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Josh D’Amaro met with Disney’s imagineers to discuss the “next steps” for the little icons of Disneyland California. That's such a cute design, by the way! It reminds us a lot of BD-1, a droid from the Star Wars Jedi series of videogames.
