The World (of America) is not enough for MSC Cruise Line
MSC is really serious about the North American market.
MSC has just announced that a new, unnamed ship will call Port Canaveral home for the 2027-2028 sailing season. The ship hasn’t even been announced yet, but we already know it will be based in Florida.
While we don’t know much about the ship, heavy rumors suggest that it will be a sister ship to the MSC World Europa and MSC World America, offering the mega-resort experience that guests expect from huge cruise lines like Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line.
MSC is big in Europe, but it’s just now starting to explore the North American market. The MSC World America is set to debut in April and will likely set the strategies for MSC going forward. The MSC World America will be based in Miami, while the new, unannounced ship will be based in Orlando. This way, MSC will have a strong presence in some of the United States’ most important and popular ports.

“Our commitment to Port Canaveral is stronger than ever, thanks to the incredible support from our partners there and the growing demand from our guests who love the port’s convenient location,” said Lynn Torrent, EVP and Chief Commercial Officer of MSC Cruises USA.
The new mysterious ship will offer year-round 7-night Caribbean itineraries. While no specific itinerary details have been released, it’s likely the ship will regularly visit MSC Cruises’ private island destination in the Bahamas, known as MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve.
