These might be some of the best Oceanview Staterooms across all cruise lines

Oceanview rooms are becoming increasingly rare nowadays, but it’s interesting that they are still offered by every major cruise line. These rooms are similar to inside rooms, with the main difference being that they feature a window (which cannot be opened) that provides outside views and allows some natural light to enter.

Disney Cruise Line often features two subcategories of oceanview staterooms: the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom and the Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom. The main difference, as you might have suspected, is that the family staterooms are bigger and better for bigger parties.

What we like about Disney Cruise Line Oceanview staterooms

Oceanview staterooms are a great choice if you want to save some money while enjoying a bit more space than a standard inside room. These rooms are slightly larger than inside rooms, measuring 218 square feet compared to the 169 square feet of inside rooms. If you feel a bit claustrophobic, the extra space is quite welcome, and the natural light is a pleasant addition, especially in the early morning.

It’s great that Deluxe Oceanview Rooms are actually larger than Deluxe Inside Rooms, especially since many cruise lines offer the same room sizes for inside, oceanview, and verandah cabins. Not with Mickey, though! The Oceanview staterooms can be a nice "in-between" choice if you’re unsure whether to go for an inside room or a balcony cabin—the two most popular options.

I also really like the Deluxe Family Oceanview Rooms, which feature a small area for kids with a pirate theme and bunk beds that look pretty cool.

The bathroom on the Disney Wish features a glass door instead of the shower curtain found on older ships. It also has a cool light effect near the floor, which illuminates gently at night if you wake up feeling drowsy.

What we don’t like about Disney Cruise Line Oceanview staterooms

There isn’t much to dislike about these cabins, honestly. Disney oceanview cabins are significantly better than similar categories on other cruise lines and should definitely be considered for your next trip, especially if you're traveling with a party of 4 to 5 members.

That said, it’s important to research prices carefully for these types of rooms - or let Famvia do it for you. Oceanview cabins are relatively few in number, so their prices can vary widely. Sometimes, they can cost as much as verandah cabins, which might not make them worth it. However, during periods of low demand, they can be as affordable as inside staterooms. In some rare cases, I’ve even seen oceanview cabins priced lower than inside staterooms!
