After coming here, I only have one question: who is Marceline?

Is there anyone called Marceline in Disney history? Why does she own a market? I am here to answer this question and much more, friends. Marceline isn’t a person, but the hometown of Walt Disney, where he spent most of his childhood years (thanks, Google). It’s also the main buffet option aboard the Disney Wish, and a great way to start your day with breakfast and maybe grab a quick bite for lunch.

There are about ten food stalls onboard Marceline Market, and you can find anything from:

  • American classics
  • International specialties
  • Comfort foods (hmmm burgers and pizza!)
  • Seafood
  • Soups and salads
  • Vegetarian and plant-based fare
  • Baked goods and desserts

Each stall is themed around a Disney classic, from Cinderella to Alice in Wonderland and Zootopia. The special touches are subtle, so I wouldn’t call it a fully themed restaurant. For example, you might see a broom related to Cinderella’s story on a wall or one of Geppetto’s clocks hanging elsewhere, but the atmosphere doesn’t overwhelm you, which is a plus. When we're at a buffet, we usually prioritize the food or a quick bite over an elaborate atmosphere, so an incredible and complex theme certainly isn’t needed.

Marceline Market offers plenty of seating options, including counters similar to a bar and spaces both indoors and outdoors. Keep in mind that you’re on one of the most popular Disney ships, so Marceline Market can get very crowded, especially during embarkation day and breakfast. It might be a good idea to grab your food and find a seat away from the main area or take it to go and try your luck by the swimming pool.

This buffet also has several staff members available to assist you, but the food is served in the traditional buffet style. See a juicy hot dog you really want to try? Go ahead and put it on your plate. Craving onion soup? You can grab some of that too. There’s also a self-serve beverage station offering soda and a variety of juices.

What we like about Marceline Market

The food is generally considered good, with some guests even saying it’s better than Cabanas, the other buffet option available on Disney cruise ships. Breakfast is especially popular here, and it's easy to see why. They feature classic Mickey pancakes and waffles, along with a variety of options for egg lovers. There’s also something called the “Breakfast Express”,' which is a pre-made dish consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and grilled tomato.

One significant improvement over Cabanas is the large hand-washing area at the entrance. Each station is equipped with easy access to a sink, soap and paper towels. Remember to wash your hands before every meal, folks!

During lunch, you’ll find the typical fare available at most cruise buffets: chicken tenders, burgers, soups, salads, chocolate mousses, small cakes and more. The food is good and might be slightly better compared to what you’d find on most other cruise lines. Is it as exceptional as the rotational dining or specialty restaurants? Of course not, but that’s to be expected.

What we don’t like about Marceline Market

All in all, Marceline Market is good. The food is slightly above average and offers plenty of options. The main issue is that it can become overly crowded. While there are many tables, the large number of guests aboard the Disney Wish can make the hallways feel a bit tight. Also,  some service stations could use an upgrade or expansion. For example, you can only get the Mickey Waffles during breakfast at the Kids Station, which can lead to very long lines.
