Aloha! Lilo, Stitch and Moana are ready to welcome you to one of the most luxurious hotels in Walt Disney World
Ever wanted to stay at a Disney resort that exudes Moana all day? How about a place that embodies the culture of countries like Samoa and the Cook Islands, offers great food, an amazing character experience, luxurious accommodations, and is also close to Magic Kingdom? Welcome to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, a place that will transport you to the best that Moana, Lilo, and Stitch have to offer. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, this incredible resort also has some pixie dust sent straight from Hawaii, and it's truly magical.
The Polynesian Village is one of Disney's Deluxe Resort Hotels, which means it can be quite expensive. Yes, let’s tell you right on that the main downside of this hotel is its price. Rates start at $740 per night, which is certainly not cheap, but we’re happy to say that this hotel offers everything you need for an amazing time at the Happiest Place on Earth. I also wish continental breakfast was available to everyone, but currently, it’s only offered to guests staying in select top-tier suites, otherwise it costs $49 per adult.
What we like about the Polynesian Village Resort
The Polynesian Village is awesome. I could very well end the “good stuff” part here and wave goodbye, since there is so much to list. The Polynesian Village is actually one of the original resorts in Disney World, opening its doors way back in 1971. Since then, it went through some major renovations. In fact, there are still a few renovations and updates as I type these words, as new rooms are getting ready to debut by the end of 2024. This is a resort that is always changing, and for the better.
The Polynesian Village looks amazing and often reminds me of a smaller version of Aulani, Disney's beach resort in Hawaii. There are a lot of trees and plants everywhere, some very detailed tikis, and even some props that resemble mountains surrounding buildings and pools. The Polynesian Village features several restaurants and bars, two main pools, campfire activities, the opportunity to watch Disney movies under the stars at night, a spa, motorized boat rentals, sports courts, fishing, and more. Yes, there’s a lot to do.
One of the best things about the resort is how close it is to Magic Kingdom. You can actually walk to the theme park, even if it’s a mile long walk. If you want to just relax, there’s also a monorail system and a ferryboat that connects the resort to Magic Kingdom, the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), the Grand Floridian Resort, and the Contemporary Resort. This is great news, as it allows you to easily visit other hotels for dining and reach Magic Kingdom in just ten minutes. Even better news for those that don’t want to drive or worry about parking.
The rooms are also fantastic, and guess what? Several of them underwent major updates and renovations in 2022. They are now mostly themed after Moana, with colors that evoke the look of hardened wood and have custom-made furnishings. Do you like the idea of a lampshade featuring Maui? They have that. These rooms are luxurious, charming, and definitely enhance the overall magical atmosphere. They are perfect and spacious for about five guests, and have good bathrooms as well. They rank among guests’ favorites when it comes to Deluxe Resort Hotels and receive a lot of praise on Reddit. Well done, Polynesian Village!
The restaurants at the Polynesian Village are top-notch, with the two best being Kona Cafe and ‘Ohana. ‘Ohana is one of the most famous restaurants at Walt Disney World. It offers a special dining experience at $55, featuring a generous, family-style, multi-course meal. ‘Ohana is also where you can enjoy a character breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. The food at Polynesian Village is highly regarded and often considered some of the best at any Disney Resort Hotel, which is certainly high praise.
What we don’t like about the Polynesian Village Resort
It’s easy to see the main downside of the Polynesian Village Resort: the price. The Polynesian Village is expensive, with rooms starting around $740 per night. And we’re talking about the most affordable rooms, not even during peak seasons, so expect to pay even more during certain months.
Another consideration isn't necessarily a downside, but something to keep in mind. If you plan to spend your days at the theme parks - whether Disney World or Universal Studios - from morning until night, it might not be worth staying at an expensive resort like the Polynesian Village Resort. This resort deserves some of your time, and you should enjoy its pools and atmosphere as if they were part of the theme park experience. If you have limited time and plan to focus mainly on visiting the parks, you might want to consider a more affordable resort.
Do I recommend the Polynesian Village? Absolutely. This is a beautiful, classic resort with amazing food and fun transportation options to Magic Kingdom. If you want to experience luxury and the best Disney has to offer, be sure to book a stay here. Sure, it’s not cheap, but you’re paying for top-tier rooms, and Mickey will make sure you have an unforgettable time with Lilo, Stitch, and Moana.
