Welcome to the "Jungle"
Journey of Water Inspired by Moana debuted in October 2023, and it’s nothing more than a self-guided tour where guests get in close contact with nature and beautiful sights inspired by the Disney movie. Yeah, don’t expect a thrill ride, or a multi-million attraction built from the ground up like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. This is mostly a fun tour for families, and certainly a great option for parents to bring their toddlers for some nice pictures with great vistas in the background. Hey, that’s perfect. Not every attraction needs to be a motion simulator or a roller coaster. Sometimes, we just want to chill and relax.
You choose between two different walk-through experiences, but no need to get scared! Unlike Mission: Space, there isn’t a Moana Orange Mission where you will be spinning around the forest non-stop. You have the option to choose between a charming trail where you might get a little bit wet, or a completely dry track to just enjoy the view.
I’d definitely recommend the special trail featuring water, which is actually interactive and will answer to some of your gestures, which reminds me of the interactive wands in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You won’t get soaked or anything like that, trust me, even if there are designated splash areas that kids love. The artificial forest looks beautiful and it’s an amazing opportunity to take pictures and relax after so many thrill rides in a row.
So, what kind of tricks do they employ here? It's nothing too mind-blowing, but still quite enjoyable, especially for kids. Take one section, for instance, inside a tunnel where there's a small waterfall in the middle. As you approach it, the water magically stops falling, allowing you to walk across easily. It's a bit like the entrance to a... shopping mall? Yeah, just like a shopping mall, sure. Other tricks involve stopping in designated areas, raising your hands, and watching fountains spill water into the air.
This attraction also has some incredibly beautiful topiaries and picturesque views, perfect for capturing memorable photos. Almost everything here is artificial, though. Otherwise, it would be incredibly challenging to construct a lush forest environment and execute all the water tricks. Don't forget to bring your camera! Also keep an eye out near the entrance, as there's a good chance you might spot Moana wandering around, offering an excellent opportunity to snap some new pics.
At the time of this review, Journey of Water isn’t offered on Disney Genie+ and there isn’t an individual Lightning Lane for it, so you just have to face the standard queue. Relax, queues for it are hardly long, so just enjoy the vistas and take the chance to learn about this beautiful, amazing thing called… water!
Will Kids enjoy it?
It depends. Young kids and toddlers will surely love it. It’s a very cool place to just walk around and take in the atmosphere. Epcot is already great for toddlers since you can have fun with them across the World Showcase, and now you can bring them here for new pictures and give them the chance to learn more about the cycle of water and how important it is to humankind. There are also designated splash zones where your kids can truly get wet, so make sure to bring a towel and an extra t-shirt if they really love water.
Kids above ten years old might find it a little bit boring. You know how that is, huh? That’s a difficult age to deal with, and they are (probably) more interested in Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Test Track. They will almost certainly roll their eyes if you ask them to take pictures in front of the artificial forest as well.
One last thing! If you're using a stroller, it's advisable to take the dry path to minimize the chances of getting hit by random splashes of water.
