Grand in luxury, transportation options... and price
The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is arguably the most iconic hotel at Walt Disney World. It’s also the most luxurious, offering just about everything you could want for a memorable vacation near Mickey Mouse. The resort features access to the monorail system, boats that take you to Magic Kingdom, some of the finest restaurants at the Happiest Place on Earth, beautiful pools, excellent service, and… well, yeah, it’s a pretty big list.
Of course, all this luxury comes at a price. The Grand Floridian is the most expensive resort at Disney World. If you’re seeking a (very) luxurious vacation, this is the place to be. However, if you’re looking to save some extra cash, you might want to explore other options.
What we like about Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Let’s get one thing out of the way: if budget isn’t an issue, you should absolutely consider staying at this resort. It truly offers everything you could want. Beyond that, the Grand Floridian is looking better than ever. A major renovation began about a year ago, with staff meticulously updating every single room and the lobby, giving the entire resort a complete facelift.
This wasn’t just about making the rooms look nicer - functionality has been improved as well. The rooms now feel modern and fresh, while maintaining a sense of luxury and beauty. From the most affordable rooms to the incredibly luxurious and expensive suites, every detail has been thoughtfully updated. The Disney touches in most rooms are subtle, but you’ll experience a different kind of elegance: think flowery wallpapers, hardwood floors, and beautiful (and stylish) bathroom mirrors. It’s simply fantastic.
Updates are still ongoing as of January 2025 and are expected to be completed within a few months. While you might notice some construction in the main lobby, the resort remains stunning. The Victorian theme gives the impression that you’re stepping into a grand castle. The atmosphere exudes pure elegance and has a romantic charm as well. The golden accents paired with white create a breathtaking aesthetic that earns two thumbs up from us.
Dining options at the Grand Floridian are truly top-notch, and the resort is often regarded as having the best restaurants at Disney World. Highlights include Victoria & Albert’s, Cítricos, and the Enchanted Rose, a Beauty and the Beast-themed bar. Victoria & Albert’s is a Disney World classic, a super-luxurious restaurant offering seven or ten-course meals starting at $295. While it’s certainly not cheap, it’s worth noting that Victoria & Albert’s is frequently ranked among the best restaurants in the United States, even earning the #2 spot on TripAdvisor in 2017.
There are also a lot of transportation options available to you. You can hop on a monorail (or a boat) to reach other resorts and the Magic Kingdom, and there is also a walkway path that should take you about 15 minutes to reach the Magic Kingdom gates. For other destinations, such as Hollywood Studios (15 minutes), Animal Kingdom (15–20 minutes), Disney Springs (20 minutes), Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach, you’ll rely on the complimentary bus service provided by the hotel.
The Grand Floridian features two pool areas and a water play area. While the pools are spacious and the new water play area is quite fun, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this hotel for families with young children. The resort lacks extensive Disney theming, which might be a downside for those looking for a more immersive Disney experience.
What we don’t like about Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

What we don’t like about the Grand Floridian is straightforward: it’s very expensive. Rates start at around $700 and can easily climb to $900 for a standard room during peak seasons. That’s a lot, especially when you compare it to other Disney hotels that also offer excellent transportation to the parks and great dining options. The Grand Floridian is best suited for those for whom budget isn’t a concern and who prioritize an elegant, luxurious atmosphere above all else.
I also wouldn’t recommend this hotel for families with young children. They’re unlikely to fully take advantage of the amenities that adults will appreciate. The room theming isn’t very Disney, and there are other hotels with excellent pool and water play areas available at a lower cost.
