Mom’s Magical Weekend: A Laid-Back Disney Edition
by Sonya Hernandez
Last weekend, a group of my closest friends went on a two-night getaway to Disney World and it was better than I could have ever imagined. Our group of four packed the car at 7am and hopped on the highway with eagerness and excitement to escape the daily tasks of motherhood. We decided to treat ourselves by staying at the chic Swan Reserve, which is known for its elevated aesthetic and adult friendly atmosphere. This luxury tower is truly breathtaking with floor-to-ceiling windows and stunning views of Epcot and Hollywood studios.
But what really made this resort the perfect pick was its location.
Our vision was to park the car at the hotel on Friday and not get back into our vehicle until Sunday. And that’s exactly what we did. After we checked in, we took a 15-minute stroll down The Boardwalk to Epcot for the Flower and Garden Festival. My group are also ride enthusiasts, so Epcot was the perfect park offering Guardians of the Galaxy, Frozen Ever After, and Soarin’. All with no kids. That’s right. No strollers. No diaper bags. Just four women sipping on margaritas living their best life.
After we concluded a lovely stroll around the world, we took a ferry that dropped us back off to the hotel for some down time. Dinner reservations were at Amari, a beautiful restaurant right inside the hotel. Food and service were exceptional. I highly recommend their Greek salad with extra whipped feta. Divine. We wrapped up the night with a fireworks view from our room.
Our second day was even better than the first. Two of my friends enjoyed a 20-minute walk to Hollywood Studios for some more rides and excitement while my best friend and I lounged at the Swan Reserve Pool. To our surprise, this pool had a guitarist who played some calming vibes throughout the day. The pool was quiet with only a couple other guests and allowed you to drink your alcohol bevs in the pool. That’s right. In the pool.
More food from Amari was served to our chairs as we gave our bodies and minds much needed rest and rejuvenation. Later that day, we walked to the Boardwalk for fun drinks at Abaracadabar and a delicious dinner at The Flying Fish. We ended the night singing at the top of our lungs at the well-known dueling piano bar, Jelly Rolls. 10/10 recommend this spot for all those music lovers!
Sunday arrived before we knew it. Soaking up every last minute of freedom, we enjoyed a quiet, lazy morning with coffee at the adorable Grounds Coffee Bar in the hotel. We ended our girls’ trip at Disney Springs for some leisurely shopping and brunch at Wine Bar George. This trip checked off every box. Gorgeous resort with an ideal location to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and The Boardwalk. A combination of excitement and relaxation all while enjoying spectacular accommodations, delicious food, five star service, and cold refreshing spirits. Oh! And did I mention… no kids? On the drive home, we vowed to schedule this trip once a year. So, stay tuned!
Cheers mamas!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Sonya! Did you know she is Carlos Hernandez's wife? Yep, the same Carlos you have seen in Famvia before, the same Carlos who runs the Disney marathon every year, the same Carlos who wakes up at 4 AM to train and... phew, that's a lot of energy. Carlos, just like Sonya, knows everything about Disney. Why not check him out and send him a message? Maybe Carlos and Sonya can give you personal tips about your next trip to Disney World and also help plan a perfect girls' weekend for you and your friends! Until next time!
