TriceraStopped. Forever.
That’s it. TriceraTop Spin has done what dinosaurs do best: it went extinct. On January 12, 2025, this flying triceratops decided to retire its wings and join the millions of dinosaurs that left planet Earth. TriceraTop Spin is now closed permanently, making way for new attractions coming in the future.
I won’t say that TriceraTop Spin was the most hyped or best attraction at Animal Kingdom, but it definitely served a purpose. It had minimal wait times, and families with toddlers could enjoy it for a short while. It was basically the same ride as The Magic Carpets of Aladdin at Magic Kingdom, just with less charm. Still, it provided something for families with young kids to do.
The brand new Tropical-Americas land will start to take shape in 2025
I was more disappointed by the closure of Primeval Whirl in 2020. That was a fun Mouse Coaster that always made me laugh, and I visited it with my family several times. It was even more fun with a full car of adults, everyone squeezed together. I won’t miss TriceraTop Spin that much, but part of me is a bit sad that Dinoland USA is seeing its last days in Animal Kingdom.
So, what comes next? Time will tell. The Tropical-Americas land is coming to Animal Kingdom, and there is supposedly an Encanto-based attraction that will replace TriceraTop Spin.
Most of Dinoland USA will be gone by the end of 2025, with Dinosaur remaining for most of the year until it is replaced by an Indiana Jones attraction in 2026. There is a strong possibility that Dinosaur will simply get a reskin and become Indiana Jones Adventure, which also exists in Disneyland.
