The playground at Magic Kingdom will be closed for a few months
Dumbo The Flying Elephant will be slightly less fun at Magic Kingdom in a few weeks, as the playground located inside the ride is set to close for refurbishment starting in late February.
Wait, are you saying, “Huh, there’s a playground inside Dumbo the Flying Elephant?” Yes, friend, there is, and it’s a pretty good one! It’s a fantastic idea by Disney. The playground features rope bridges and play areas where little ones can entertain themselves while waiting in the queue for the ride. If you decide to let your kids play, you’ll receive a pager that will beep when it’s your turn to board, signaling that it’s time to fly the aerial carousel.

The playground area is one of the best parts of Dumbo at Magic Kingdom. Without it, Dumbo the Flying Elephant becomes just a normal ride. Mostly okay, but nothing extraordinary. It’s comparable to The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, which doesn’t include a playground.
According to Disney, “The indoor children’s playground in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue will close for refurbishment on February 24, 2025, and is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. The attraction will remain open and available during this time.”
So, while the playground will be temporarily closed, the ride itself will remain open, giving families with toddlers more ride options. That flying elephant isn’t landing anytime soon!
