Time for a good scare, and we are not talking about big drops or loops
That’s not a typo, friend. The theme park that houses Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Slinky Dog Dash will “soon” be getting a brand-new roller coaster. We say “soon” because it will be part of the new Monsters, Inc. area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, replacing the current Muppets Courtyard that is set to debut in… 2026? Maybe?
What makes this ride even more exciting is that it will be the first-ever suspended roller coaster at any Disney park. Given the theming and its indoor setting, it’s unlikely to be an intense thrill ride. The concept involves entering the Monsters Factory and exploring its world, with doors leading to the homes of unsuspecting humans who love a good scare. This makes me wonder if it will actually be a real roller coaster, or something more like Indiana Jones Adventure or Dinosaur, but with a vehicle resembling a coaster.
Now we just wait for Mike and Sulley

I’m really looking forward to this one. There’s so much to love about indoor roller coasters that tell a great story - just look at Universal Studios’ Revenge of the Mummy. That said, I can’t help but find it funny that this will likely be another family-friendly coaster. Don’t we already have Slinky Dog Dash at Hollywood Studios?
In my opinion, a new coaster might have a bigger impact at Animal Kingdom, a park that could really use more blockbuster attractions these days.
Still, let’s wait and see. Muppets Land will start saying goodbye this year, making way for construction of the new Monsters, Inc. Land. Now, how long does it take to build a suspended roller coaster and an entirely new land from scratch? We can probably expect it to open no sooner than 2026, so let’s keep an eye on what happens next.
