Disney cancels the Muppets Mayhem after just one season

We’ve got some not-so-great news for The Muppets fans…

We are going to miss these puppets

Disney announced this November that the musical comedy series, The Muppets Mayhem featuring Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem has been canceled on Disney+ after one season. It debuted on Disney+ in May 2023 with ten episodes, starring Lily Singh, Tahj Mowry, Saara Chaudry, and Anders Holm. Sadly, it won't be renewed for a second season.

The canceled series followed the story of the Electric Mayhem Band, consisting of Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips on their epic, music-filled journey to record their first-ever studio album. It was produced by Adam F. Goldberg, Barretta, Jeff Yorkes, Kris Eber, David Lightbody, and Leigh Slaughter.

“Huge thanks to the critic & fan love that got us 6 Emmy noms and a #1 Billboard album. Mayhem was truly the most joyful and collaborative experience of my career,” said Goldberg.

“What a long, strange trip it’s been! The highs (thanks Zoot!), the lows … A huge thank you to our loyal fans and viewers. I hope audiences continue to discover our little show and that it brings them some joy … and some Mayhem!! Rock on!!,” Yorkes wrote in his post.

    Unlucky Muppets

The Muppets Mayhem was the second original series featuring the characters at Disney+, following the shortform Muppets Now from 2020. A Halloween special, Muppets Haunted Mansion, premiered on the streaming service back in 2021.

We’re sad to see the fun and entertaining series go away, but hey, let’s all cheer up as there are more exciting upcoming series and movies on Disney+, like Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which will premiere early December.
