Available on: Disney Wish
So it was only a matter of time before Frozen had its own restaurant aboard a Disney Cruise. As Thanos might say, it was inevitable. Our wishes have come true with Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure now featured on the Disney Wish as part of its rotational dining experience. Much like Worlds of Marvel and other restaurants like Animator’s Palate, Arendelle offers a fantastic blend of a show and dining, making it one of the best (and most fun) options aboard the Disney Wish.
Arendelle is beautiful, with an elegant atmosphere that perfectly suits Queen Elsa and Princess Anna. The experience begins even before you enter the venue, with statues and sculptures of beloved characters and official invitations welcoming guests to celebrate the union of Anna and Kristoff.
What we like about Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
As is almost always the case with Disney Cruise Line restaurants, Arendelle exudes an incredible atmosphere. Dining here feels like you're with royals, so it’s no surprise that the restaurant is stunning. Tables are arranged around a large stage, and the ceiling is adorned with effects resembling ice magic and tiny snowflakes. The expansive panoramic windows even transition from real ocean views to effects that simulate the aurora borealis. It’s cozy and visually captivating.
The main stars of the show are, of course, the performances. Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and even Olaf make their entrance while you’re enjoying your meal, delivering fantastic singing and performances on the center stage. They perform Disney favorites from both movies, including 'In Summer,' 'Love is an Open Door,' and the song that shall-not-be-named (okay, it’s 'Let It Go'). Do keep in mind that a lot of the time it isn’t Elsa or Anna that are singing (even if they do), but some skilled musicians that come on stage to sing live.
The food is Norwegian-themed, and there’s a good chance you might not recognize some of the items! This can make the experience even more exciting. The great news is that you’re not limited to just one item per course - you can order as many appetizers, desserts, and entrées as you like. The food typically receives excellent reviews, and it’s rare to find a guest who complains about it. Just Google for opinions online on forums and Reddit, and you’ll see I’m right!
What we don’t like about Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
I think that the worst thing about Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure is the name. Not very original.
Okay, just kidding. Maybe. If I have to point out one “bad” thing about this dining venue is that the service can feel chaotic at times. I don’t know if it’s because of the design of the restaurant with a main center stage, but tables can feel cramped sometimes, and you will see waiters rushing to get everything done. Don’t get me wrong, the service is still amazing as you’d expect from Disney, and waiters are still doing their best and being incredibly polite to passengers.
Another downside is that some tables have poor views of the main stage. If you’re seated far from the stage, you may have many people in front of you, which can be frustrating. Some tables also might have large pillars partially obstructing the view, which can be quite disappointing. Imagine traveling with your six-year-old daughter who loves Frozen, only to find her seated at a table where she can barely see Elsa and has a giant pillar blocking her view. If this could be a problem, it’s worth speaking to the staff to see if you can be seated elsewhere.
Also, keep in mind that this isn’t a typical character dining experience. While characters might come to your table to wave and say hi, they usually don’t stay long for photos. However, they do a great job staying in character and being friendly, especially to the little ones.
