Welcome to one of the most classy and beautiful restaurants aboard not only the Disney Wish, but the entire DCL fleet! 1923 is part of the rotational dining options aboard the Wish, alongside Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure and also Worlds of Marvel. While Worlds of Marvel is based on superheroes and Arendelle is based on Let it Go, 1923 is based on Disney itself and the art of animation.

It may sound like 1923 is similar to Animator’s Palate, an awesome restaurant that celebrates everything Disney and Pixar on all other Disney cruise ships. However, 1923 doesn’t feature a show of any kind. While the atmosphere is great, you won’t find Sorcerer Mickey walking around, Aladdin entering the room to sing A Whole New World, or any similar performances. Instead, you can simply enjoy your meal in a gorgeous venue, which is a nice change of pace.

What we like about 1923

1923 looks absolutely amazing and is one of the most elegant restaurants aboard the Disney Wish. It features a menu that blends Asian, European, and South American influences, offering everything from empanadas to burratas, soups (including vegan options), Tortiglioni pasta, salmon fillet, and filet mignon.

The food gets great reviews, which seems to be the norm with Disney Cruise Line. Some of the standout dishes include the Burrata Mozzarella and the Roast Rack of Lamb. In fact, many people say that 1923 has the best menu among all three rotational dining options, offering some of the finest soups as well.

Oh, right, where was I? The atmosphere! It’s gorgeous. 1923 is actually divided into two main dining rooms, one named Walt and the other Roy, paying homage to the Disney brothers and everything they did for the art of animation. 1923 is, after all, the exact year that the Walt Disney Animation Studios was founded.

The restaurant is filled with amazing artwork, props, and Easter eggs from some of our favorite Disney movies. You’ll find references to Pinocchio, Frozen, Bambi, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Moana, and practically anything you can think of. Apparently, there are over a thousand different pieces of artwork and Easter eggs throughout the restaurant, some of which are original pieces that helped bring these movies to life.

What we don’t like about 1923

I honestly don’t think there’s anything wrong with 1923. Some people complain that the tables are too close together, but that seems to be an issue with several venues aboard the ship - they sometimes don’t feel spacious enough for the number of guests onboard.

There’s also no real entertainment or show inside 1923. I don’t consider this a bad thing; it’s just different, especially compared to Arendelle and Worlds of Marvel, which both have shows and interactive elements. Adults might appreciate the elegant atmosphere more, while kids might miss the Marvel superheroes' action or Anna and Elsa singing some of their favorite songs.
