These might be the droids you’re looking for
Relax, it’s not a Terminator 2: Judgment Day situation. No, the droids haven’t come to take over the world or been controlled by Skynet. In fact, they’ve traveled from a galaxy far, far away and were recently spotted aboard the Disney Wish, walking around and entertaining guests at the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge and Star Wars: Cargo Bay inside the Oceaneer Club.
BDX droids made their debut on the Disney Wish this past week. For those unfamiliar, these droids aren’t like R2-D2 or C-3PO. They first appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, where they served as a sidekick to the hero Cal Kestis. It’s exciting to see characters from the Star Wars games make an appearance on a Disney Cruise Line ship. Who knows, maybe we’ll see Bastila Shan and HK-47 from Knights of the Old Republic next? Please…?

While the BDX droids won’t be part of regular sailings, it looks like Disney is experimenting with them onboard. I love this idea! it's something I’ve mentioned here on Famvia before: I’d love to see new interactions and cameos inside the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge.
The Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is a themed bar aboard the Disney Wish, but I’ve always felt it could use more immersive experiences. How about aliens sipping drinks next to you, the Cantina Band song from A New Hope playing occasionally, or droids stopping by to say hello? Maybe even a staff member dressed as Lando Calrissian?
I really hope that the BDX droids signal Disney’s effort to make Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge more engaging, adding an element of roleplay. Imagine getting a drink only to see Greedo walk in and sit next to you, or R2-D2 serving you a beer.
These small touches could set this bar apart from the hundreds of others on cruise ships, and there are plenty of ways Disney could elevate the experience even further.
