Selecting the perfect place for your next Disneyland vacation isn’t an easy task. Do you go for one of the three Disneyland Resorts, or one of the hotels partnered with Disney, known as Good Neighbor Hotels? Both have their advantages and disadvantages, and, ultimately, all of them are great choices located near the theme parks that will allow you to enjoy your time with Mickey & friends.
In this guide, we’ll discuss the Disneyland Resorts, what Good Neighbor Hotels are, and which option might be the best choice for you.
The Disneyland Resorts

- Price: from $450 to $850 per night.
- Advantages: you are inside the Disney Bubble; you are at walking distance to Disneyland; you get the Early Entry perk.
- Disadvantages: almost always more expensive than Good Neighbor Hotels.
There are three Disneyland Resorts at Disneyland, listed below with their starting prices.
- Pixar Place Hotel (starting at $450)
- Disneyland Hotel (starting at $550)
- Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (starting at $600)
The Disneyland Resorts are fantastic options for those wanting to stay fully immersed in the Disney experience, enjoying the “Disney bubble” 24/7. All three hotels offer unique experiences, from good to outstanding. The Pixar Place Hotel, newly opened in early 2024, features renovated rooms and an excellent pool area, while the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is one of the most luxurious options near the Happiest Place on Earth.
These hotels include Disney-inspired rooms and amenities, and some, like the Grand Californian, even offer Character Dining experiences where you can meet Disney characters. At the Disneyland Hotel, you might even spot a few Disney characters walking around the main lobby! These are awesome places for Disney fans, and all three resorts are located conveniently near Disneyland.

The Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is about a 5-minute walk from Disney California Adventure and has a private entrance to the park and Downtown Disney. The Pixar Place Hotel is also just a short 10–15 minute walk to the main gates. The Disneyland Hotel is also very close to the theme parks, and it shouldn’t take you more than 10 minutes to reach the gates.
Staying at one of these three hotels is also the only way to get the Early Entry perk, which allows you to enter Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure 30 minutes before the gates officially open. Those precious minutes can make a world of difference for reaching popular rides like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout with minimal wait times.
The main disadvantage of these hotels is easy to spot: they can be quite expensive. However, if you don’t mind the higher prices, you’re sure to have a fantastic experience at any of them. The Grand Californian Hotel, in particular, is absolutely stunning and is our highest-rated Disneyland hotel. Pixar Place Hotel is also a great option that can save you some money, with rooms that are newly renovated and fresh.
The Good Neighbor Hotels

- Price: from $175 to $600 per night.
- Advantages: These hotels are almost always more affordable than the Disneyland Resorts; most are within walking distance of Disneyland; lots of hotel options to choose from; you can buy package deals that include Disneyland tickets; some hotels offer free shuttles to Disneyland.
- Disadvantages: they do not offer the Early Entry perk; no Disney-inspired rooms or amenities.
Good Neighbor Hotels aren’t owned by Disney, but they have a partnership with the Big Mouse and have received an official “Mickey seal of approval.” This means these hotels offer quality rooms, great accommodations, and most are within walking distance of Disneyland.
While there are only three Disneyland Resorts in California, there are 58 (!) Good Neighbor Hotels! That’s a lot of options to fit nearly any budget. Some of these hotels are located right across the street from the theme parks - even closer than the Pixar Place Hotel - while others are about 1.5 miles away.
These hotels offer great prices, and almost all of them are more affordable than the least expensive Disneyland Hotel. While you don’t get the Early Entry perk, you can definitely save a lot of money by staying here. Some hotels also offer free shuttles to and from the theme parks, which is always a bonus.
Let’s list all 58 hotels, along with their overall ratings on Hotels.com (where available), standard room prices for mid-April 2025, any special amenities they offer, and their walking distance to Disneyland. The prices do not include taxes.

Should I go with a Disneyland Resort or a Good Neighbor Hotel?

That’s the million-dollar question, right? Both options are great, honestly. Personally, I’d choose a Disneyland Resort if I only had a few days to experience the Happiest Place on Earth. For example, if I were in California for just a weekend, the Early Entry perk could make a world of difference, and being immersed in the Disney Bubble would feel extra special.
A Disneyland Resort might also be an excellent choice for those traveling with little ones, which is pretty much everyone heading to Disney. Being surrounded by pixie dust can make a huge difference, especially if you stay at a hotel with character dining and Disney friends walking around.
If you have plenty of time to explore Disneyland, want to save some money, or are traveling with just your significant other, a Good Neighbor Hotel might be a better choice. Sure, you don’t get Early Entry, and these hotels aren’t themed around any Disney IP, but many are luxurious and very close to the park. The best part is that you can pay as little as $175 for a Good Neighbor Hotel and still be within walking distance of Disneyland.
