Disney is kicking off 2024 with incredible surprises and many attractions that guests have been looking forward to for some time now.
Certainly, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is no exception, and the Splash Mountain replacement is taking shape faster than we thought, leaving us on the edge of our seats for its official launch later this year.
Meanwhile, let's unwrap new pieces of information about this incredible new attraction and how the masterminds behind it came up with this project.
Looking back to Day Zero
The Princess and the Frog movie held central importance in the project, as it is Tiana's origin story. The team likely engaged in extensive brainstorming, yielding a flow of several ideas that gradually came to life, breathing life into this new attraction.

Almost every detail about the movie’s story was key to creating the storyline that the ride will follow. The ride is mainly focused on the bayou adventure, introducing guests to new characters that will make the experience one of a kind.
The new characters are great musicians, by the way. Maybe the Imagineers realized that Louis needed a few friends who would join him on a musical journey?
Let’s not forget the city!
Now for Tiana! We all know the movie takes place in the lovely city of New Orleans. From the moment we see Prince Naveen dancing and enjoying the vibrant music, we are fully immersed in the wonderful atmosphere that this place radiates to everyone that decides to visit. Yeah, we can bet that music will be a big part of the new attraction.

This is why the Disney Imagineers team decided to take a special trip to New Orleans, specifically to see firsthand the Mardi Gras Celebration which is pretty popular there.
The team could absorb all the incredible energy, floating parades, live music, bands, the characteristical architecture of the city and the dazzling costumes that were worn during this special event.

Even Ted Robledo, executive creative director with Walt Disney Imagineering, has said "This is where Tiana is from. She's inspired by people from New Orleans.” and we couldn’t agree more.
We cannot wait to see the attraction finally open, as we try to identify the interesting points that were inspired by this huge celebration that is Mardi Gras.
One of the elements that we have witnessed are the colorful and vibrant murals that surround different spots around the ride. There is a great chance they were inspired during the Mardi Gras tour, don’t you think?

Are you as excited as we are?
We are pretty sure that the Disney team has created a unique concept and ride that is worth the wait.
