Discovery Island wonders are waiting for you
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is not only one of our favorite parks in Disney World, but also a fun yet natural oasis that allows guests a unique experience like no other. The park has been offering wonderful adventures through its many locations since 1998, and the future is bright, since Disney promises a major expansion which will bring Indiana Jones, Encanto and even Zootopia to this beautiful location.
This sanctuary hosts a diverse array of wildlife, all carefully cared for in spacious habitats. Guests can respectfully interact with some of these animals and explore their environments, learning valuable lessons about Mother Nature's provisions for all living beings. You don't need explore a lot to understand about the many specimens, just hop aboard the great Kilimanjaro Safaris!

Discovery Island Trails
When visiting Animal Kingdom, it's common to be amazed by the multitude of places and adventures available. The World of Pandora alone is amazing with so many cool vistas! However, if you enjoy leisurely walks and keen observation of your surroundings, Discovery Island might be the perfect destination for you.

The Discovery Island Trails consist of tranquil pathways winding through a lush, green landscape. Before embarking on the paths, take a moment to observe and appreciate the beauty of the Tree of Life, a sight not to be missed. The awe-inspiring height and verdant foliage of the tree are worth capturing in countless pictures. This is Animal Kingdom's landmark and surely a spot that deserves a few pictures.

From that centerpiece, you can explore different pathways enveloped in a serene ambiance, where you may encounter various wildlife. Guests can cross wooden plank bridges and traverse tunnels that evoke the feeling of being inside a jungle cave. It's a delightful experience that both the little ones and the not-so-little ones in the family will enjoy.

Get your cameras ready... but with caution
During the self-guided tour, you may encounter some beautiful animals from afar, while others may come closer depending on your luck. However, we suggest bringing a pair of binoculars and ensuring you have enough space on your camera to capture those wilderness memories forever.

But let us remind you to always respect the personal space of living beings. Unless you’re accompanied by a park expert, do not intend to get too close or touch any of the animals, and try to take pictures without flash too. We want them to feel comfortable the same way we do.

Here are some of the animal interactions you may experience:
- Red Kangaroo
- Lesser Flamingo
- Saddle-Billed Stork
- Asian Small-Clawed Otter
- Galapagos Tortoise
- West African Crowned Crane
- Lappet Face Vulture, and more!
