This Christmas Season is not only about the great sights
In a festive activity of unity and well being, over 10,000 Disney cast members, along with their friends and families, embraced the holiday spirit during the annual Be Well...Cast Member, Friends & Family Holiday 5K.
The event is a morning tradition, with participants donning holiday-themed clothing while they went through the 3.1-mile journey at various Disney locations across the United States.
From Disney California Adventure Park to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and even virtually in scenic spots like Vero Beach and Hilton Head Island, the 5K brought together cast members from different locations, creating a sense of partnership and a shared commitment to wellness.
Something different this year
The Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort welcomed honored guests from the United States Marines Corps, adding a touch of patriotic significance. The event also served as an opportunity for participants to contribute to the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive, supporting the Marine Toys for Tots Program.
Besides the heart touching stories, cast member Darlene Williams, a cruise vacation agent for Disney Cruise Line, shared her remarkable wellness journey. Darlene, who lost over 200 pounds, expressed gratitude for the company's commitment to employee well-being, emphasizing the role of exclusive events like the 5K in fostering a healthy lifestyle.
The special activity went further than what many expected. It extended beyond the physical courses, with virtual participants joining from Disney’s Vero Beach and Hilton Head Resort, Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, and even the Disney Store Times Square. The festive spirit was present despite rainy weather in Central Park, where cast members refused to let it put a break on their Christmas spirit.
We are sure that this event is much more than just personal wellness, it goes hand in hand with Disney’s commitment to spreading joy. Participants' toy donations from the 5K will bring happiness to millions of kids through the Toys for Tots program.
Now that the holiday 5K wrapped up, it leaves us very pleased with the results that they shared with the world through various pictures.
We love Disney not only for the characters and attractions, because besides all the joy they bring to us, they give us something even stronger, real love and commitment to their cast members, creating more than just a team.
