A joyful Christmas miracle has taken place in the fantastical and magical world of Disney, and we can barely contain our excitement about it!
The Christmas Magic has arrived
The Christmas Season is a wonderful time to enjoy delicious food, vibrant parties, Disney’s shows and events, and is also the perfect time to think and be grateful for NEW family and friends.
That’s why Disney’s Animal Kingdom is rolling out the red carpet for the immense joy that the birth of an African elephant has brought to guests and cast members. This is the first time in seven years that something like this happened, which makes the occasion extra special!
When did it happen?
On Saturday, December 16th, the proud mama, Nadirah, who was expecting in early 2022 and had been well cared for by the animal care team throughout her 22-month pregnancy journey, gave birth to a healthy and adorable African elephant.
The first big-tiny steps into this world
With 218 pounds, Nadirah's baby has been exploring Animal Kingdom while bonding with her mama. She has been eager to say hi to her other family members too! Elephants are a close-knit family, and this new girl is getting that welcome love from her auntie, Luna.

"Welcome to the herd, girl!"
After days of adaptation, she will get to meet her other auntie, Stella, and her wonderful Grandma, Donna. We are sure she's going to be the new darling of the herd, just look at her, she is so adorable!
The process of African elephant births such as this one is cautiously planned with the help of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan, which aims to give adequate care and monitorate responsibly the breeding of endangered species.
Don’t worry, Nadirah is receiving post-natal care, which is truly important. To ensure that her health is on the right track, the team has been doing several exams and giving special attention, not only to the big mama but to her baby as well.

Any baby name pops up?
Woops, we almost forgot. If you were brainstorming names for the new baby, sorry, but she already got one. Corra! We have to admit, we love it. It would also be fun if some day Disney lets guests name newborns, maybe through a survey or something, right?
Stay tuned for more adorable news like this one! Until next time, and don’t forget to book your next Animal Kingdom visit with us, so you get to see in person the cute Corra and her amazing mama.
