Welcome to Famvia’s Crowd & Weather Calendar for Walt Disney World! We’ll take a look at each month of the year, discussing crowds, weather, rain, and more, so you can choose the perfect time to visit.
Keep in mind that crowd calendars are never 100% accurate. You might get unlucky on a specific day and encounter more crowds than usual, or you could hit the jackpot during late December and find the Magic Kingdom less crowded than expected (seriously, teach me what sorcery is at play here).
We are also going to tell you straight away what are the best times of the year to visit Disney World before we check each month individually.
The Best Times of the Year to Visit Walt Disney World

The best months to visit are:
- January: A great mix of manageable crowds and good weather. It’s a bit chilly, so be sure to bring a jacket. Visit from the second week onward for the best experience.
- February: A fantastic time to visit, just plan your trip around President’s Day. The weather is cozy with low chances of rain.
- May: More crowded than January and February, but still a pleasant month. The weather is also quite good.
Second Half of August: Low crowds, though there’s a good chance of rain throughout the day. - September: The lowest crowds of the year at Walt Disney World. It’s the peak of hurricane season, so be prepared for rain.
- Early October: Manageable crowds and excellent weather.
- Early November: Similar to October. Visit before the busy Thanksgiving Weekend.
- Early December: More crowded than early November, but still a good time to visit.
What is the best month to visit Walt Disney World?
Great question, young padawan! Without further ado, we would say that the best month to visit Disney World is probably September.
It might surprise a lot of people! The reason is that September has the lowest crowds of the year. While it might rain during the day and there's always the chance of a hurricane (knocks on wood), it’s still a fantastic time to visit.
Other great months to visit in general are January, February, and August.
Month-by-Month Guide to Disney World Weather & Crowds
January
- Temperature: Average High: 72° F; Average Low: 48° F
- Crowds: Manageable to Good
- Recommended month to visit Walt Disney World
January is usually a good month to visit Disney World. The first week is rather busy since guests are still enjoying the holidays, but from the second week onward, it’s much less crowded than you might expect. The runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon takes place during the second week of January and may impact crowds slightly, but the parks remain manageable. January 21–30 tends to be the best time of the month to visit.
January is also the coldest month at Walt Disney World, so make sure to bring a jacket. It’s chilly in the early morning and at night, especially during the fireworks show at Magic Kingdom.
February
- Temperature: Average High: 74° F; Average Low: 51° F
- Crowds: Manageable to Good
- Recommended month to visit Walt Disney World
Much like January, February is also a very good month to visit. There are more crowds compared to the previous month, especially during President’s Day Weekend that takes place in the middle of the month, but it’s still manageable. February 21-27 is usually the best time of the month to come visit. The Epcot Festival of the Arts takes place in February and is a very cozy event to check out Walt Disney World. In general, February tends to be a little more crowded than the weeks of January, but it’s still a recommended month to visit.
Weather is also great. In fact, it’s one of the best of the year, with low chances of rain and cozy temperatures all day.
March
- Temperature: Average High: 78° F; Average Low: 54° F; Some storms during the day
- Crowds: Manageable during the first week, but heavy for the rest of the month.
- Recommended month to visit only during the first week
Most Florida schools schedule their spring breaks during the second and third weeks of March. You know what that means, right? Yes, lots of crowds in March. However, if you visit during the first week, you can still have a great time.
The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival takes place this month, making it a wonderful time to visit Epcot. The park transforms into a stunning garden filled with flowers and topiary sculptures, perfect for taking beautiful photos.
March also marks the start of warmer weather, and storms can occasionally disrupt your day. While these storms are usually brief, they may interrupt your midday park plans and become a bit of a hassle.
April
- Temperature: Average High: 83° F; Average Low: 60° F; Some storms during the day
- Crowds: Manageable during the second week only
- Not recommended
April is generally not an ideal month to visit due to two main issues: the beginning of the month still sees lingering Spring Break crowds in Florida, and the Easter holiday makes the middle of the month a particularly busy time at the theme parks. However, visiting during the second week of April - just before school breaks - or at the end of the month can provide more manageable crowds. Still, we usually don’t recommend April to visit, since Spring Break can be really unpredictable.
Much like in March, midday storms are common and can disrupt your plans. While they don’t last long, they can easily shut down popular rides for an hour or so and temporarily derail your park strategy, which can be frustrating.
May
- Temperature: Average High: 87° F; Average Low: 66° F
- Crowds: Good, becomes worse only on the last week of May
- Recommended month to visit
May is generally a great month to visit Walt Disney World. Crowds are manageable since Spring Break has ended, and most guests are waiting for summer to travel to Florida. The best time to visit is from the first week of May through the third week, as the last week tends to bring in crowds from schools wrapping up for the semester, along with Memorial Day at the end of the month.
If you’re planning a trip, aim for May 1–24. You can even celebrate Star Wars Day at Hollywood Studios on May 4th!
The main drawback of visiting in May is the weather. Like the previous two months, midday storms are common, but the bigger issue is that temperatures in Florida begin to rise significantly. Be sure to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water!
June
- Temperature: Average High: 90° F; Average Low: 72° F
- Crowds: Manageable during the first two weeks; crowded for the last two weeks of the month.
- Not recommended
June isn’t as bad as July, but crowds do start to pick up, especially toward the end of the month. If you’re planning to visit in June, aim for the first two weeks and avoid the last two. While some guests leave after Memorial Day weekend, others arrive from all over the world as school breaks begin. Still, expect heavy crowds during most of the month, as this is an unpredictable time of the year.
Temperatures continue to rise, making it increasingly hot, and midday storms remain a common issue that can disrupt your plans. If you hate hot weather, skip June.
July
- Temperature: Average High: 92° F; Average Low: 74° F
- Crowds: Very crowded during the entire month
- Not recommended
July is both extremely crowded and unbearably hot in Florida. Guests from all over the world flock to Walt Disney World, resulting in long lines everywhere. School breaks in many South American countries also contribute to the packed theme parks.
In addition to the crowds, the intense heat makes July an especially challenging month to visit. Even if the parks were less crowded, the sweltering sun and high temperatures would still make it uncomfortable. Be sure to pack sunscreen, stay hydrated, and take precautions to avoid sunburn.
August
- Temperature: Average High: 91° F; Average Low: 74° F; lots of rain.
- Crowds: Good from the second week onwards
- Recommended month to visit… if you don’t mind the hot weather.
August is a good month to visit Walt Disney World… if you don’t care about a very hot and humid weather. The first week is not advised since there are still some people enjoying their vacation, but from the second week onwards the crowds decrease a lot. The last two weeks are particularly amazing, with most guests already leaving to return to school and their jobs.
The weather is the main issue. It’s still very hot in Florida, so be sure to bring sunscreen and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. August is also one of the rainiest months in Florida, which can be problematic.
September
- Temperature: Average High: 90° F; Average Low: 73° F; Lots of rain.
- Crowds: Good for the entire month
- Recommended month to visit
September is a great month to visit - just try to avoid Labor Day and the end of the month, when School Fall Breaks begin. The second and third weeks of September are particularly ideal, with some of the lowest crowds of the year, and you can even participate in Halloween events. Hotels also tend to be cheaper during this time.
The main issue? The weather. It’s still hot at Disney World, and rainfall is frequent. September also marks the peak of hurricane season.
October
- Temperature: Average High: 85° F; Average Low: 66° F
- Crowds: Okay for the first two weeks; crowded during the last two weeks
- Recommended month to visit during the first two weeks
October is generally divided into two parts: the first two weeks, which offer manageable crowds, and the second half, which brings Fall Break and Halloween. The first two weeks are often great for visiting Walt Disney World, with theme parks not being too crowded and plenty of Halloween festivities to enjoy. The second half of October becomes problematic, as more guests arrive for their breaks and Halloween quickly approaches.
Autumn begins, bringing pleasant temperatures and little rain. Weather-wise, it’s a great month to visit.
November
- Temperature: Average High: 79° F; Average Low: 57° F
- Crowds: Good for the first two weeks; very crowded during the last two weeks
- Recommended month to visit during the first two weeks only
Much like October, November is divided into two parts: the first week, which offers manageable crowds, and the second week, which is a less ideal time to visit Disney World. The first week still sees lingering crowds from Halloween and guests staying for Veteran’s Day, but it’s not as crowded as the second week.
Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest times of the year at the Happiest Place on Earth, so if you're planning a trip in November, stick to the first two weeks. The good news is that Christmas celebrations begin in November, including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
The weather is amazing, marking the end of the hurricane season in Florida. With low chances of rain and cozy temperatures, it's the perfect time to visit.
December
- Temperature: Average High: 74° F; Average Low: 52° F
- Crowds: Good for the first two weeks; very crowded during the last two weeks
- Recommended month to visit during the first two weeks only
December is similar to November: the first two weeks are manageable, but the last two weeks are some of the busiest times at Disney World. If you want perfect weather and wish to check out the Christmas decorations and events, plan a trip during the first two weeks of December, especially after Thanksgiving. The parks might be a little crowded, but they won’t be super packed. The last two weeks are not recommended, as guests from all over the world flock to the Happiest Place on Earth for Christmas.
It’s a bit chilly at Disney World now, so be sure to bring a jacket. Other than that, the weather is very cozy, with very low chances of rain throughout the day. Essentially, the weather is perfect.
