For the past four decades, Toy Story has been a part of many people’s childhood, and of course, the voice of Buzz Lightyear, Tim Allen, played a significant role in it.
To Infinity... and beyond?
Good news, Disney announced that there’ll be another childhood memory for this generation of kids (and adults alike), since Toy Story 5 will come out in theaters anytime between 2026-2028!

The man who voiced Buzz Lightyear for four decades and now a Disney star, Tim Allen, has been vocal about the upcoming return of the franchise.
It looks like Tom Hanks is returning as well
“Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on,” Allen said during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night. “He actually said it was going to happen. They have reached out to Tom (Hanks) and I to reprise the roles. They’re not saying anything about it.”
But the actor expressed his hesitancy about returning to the series.
“For people like me, it’s just like — I’m a sci-fi buff. You wonder if four was too many, is five too much? According to the scuttlebutts, the writer that’s doing it wrote one of the better ones and he said, ‘If I didn’t get this right, I wouldn’t do it.’ So, it could be a very, very interesting way to reunite it,” Allen added.
It would be fun to see Tim Allen and Tom Hanks return to the franchise, but if they don’t, let’s see what happens next. Hopefully it does better than last year's Lightyear, which had Chris Evans voicing the iconic character.
Either way, we are very excited for Toy Story 5! For more updates about the movie or anything Disney, stay tuned to Famvia and send us a message.
