On November 28th, Bog Iger and Disney executives, including Josh D'Amaro, met with Walt Disney employees to discuss current and future company plans. One of those topics was park expansions, specifically at Disneyland in Anaheim.
World of Frozen coming to Disneyland?
“We’ve got so much space to play with. Disneyland, for example, Walt’s original theme park; we still have enough room to build another Disneyland there if we choose to do that,” said Josh D’Amaro, Disney’s Chairperson of Parks, Experiences, and Products. So, yeah, they’re really planning BIG things.
Previously, The Walt Disney Company announced plans to invest $60 billion in its theme park business over the next decade. Yep, big money!
“Frozen, one of the most successful and popular animated franchises of all time, could have a presence at the Disneyland Resort. Wakanda has yet to be brought to life. The world of Coco is just waiting to be explored. There’s a lot of storytelling opportunity,” D’Amaro previously said.
But expanding the Happiest Place on Earth could only become a reality if the city of Anaheim approves DisneylandForward plans, a project wherein Disney will build new attractions, shops, and restaurants within its existing 490-acre footprint. Wow, we’ve got lots of things to do with all that upcoming stuff if it’s approved.
But currently, Disney is still waiting for the approval of the city of Anaheim for DisneylandForward and is hoping that it will be approved by late 2024. We’ll continue to give you an update if they release one soon.
