Bob Iger has truly done a lot of things for Disney ever since he returned as CEO in November 2022 to revamp the company after his successor, Bob Chapek, got board-ousted.
Since his return, Iger has restructured the company and streamlined operations to make it more cost-effective. In fact, it is on track to exceed the $5 billion in cost savings they promised investors in February.
However, things changed dramatically during Iger's absence from Disney's executive team, both within the company and in the country's political climate. Several times in recent years, Disney has been accused of promoting the "woke agenda" through their films and organizations it supports, which Iger commented on. Again.
The mic is yours, Bob
According to Alex Sherman of CNBC, Iger said that the Disney creators kind of forgot what their job functions should really be — to entertain the audience first rather than spreading a message or awareness. He also said that the positive messages in their films or storylines are just a bonus and should not be the focus.
Iger will soon step down in 2026 as the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, but his main priorities in 2024 are all about bringing creativity back into the production studios. He also looks forward to bringing Disney back to the apolitical scene.
