Bahamas & the Caribbean

Main destinations: Perfect Day at CocoCay, Cozumel (Mexico), St.Thomas, Barbados.

Royal Caribbean began its journey by exploring the Caribbean, as reflected in the company's name. Many of their ships regularly offer cruises to the Caribbean throughout much of the year. In 2024 and 2025, 23 of its 27 vessels are sailing in the Caribbean and Bahamas, including the popular mega-cruises. You can’t go wrong with the Caribbean, by the way. Sun throughout the year, great weather, beautiful vistas, what else can you ask for?

For those seeking shorter trips, Royal Caribbean offers numerous quick three and four-night sailings from Florida ports (Icon of the Seas usually departs from Miami) to the Bahamas. They also provide a variety of seven-night cruises to ports in the Caribbean and Bahamas, as well as longer trips ranging from nine to 14 nights in the region. Most of these itineraries include at least one stop at CocoCay, ensuring you can experience the island's attractions. Icon of the Seas, for example, is all about the Western and Eastern Caribbean during the Summer.

Perfect Day at CocoCay

Perfect Day at CocoCay is a popular destination for Royal Caribbean cruises traversing the Caribbean. This privately-owned island, located about 120 miles from Miami, may be small but offers a wealth of activities. Its compact size ensures everything is conveniently close; you can easily walk from one end to the farthest beach in just 15 minutes.

There are a lot of beaches in CocoCay - seven in fact, with each one offering a different atmosphere. The island is also home to Thrill Waterpark, which features Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in North America.

CocoCay is generally free to enjoy, with several complimentary restaurants typically located near the main decks. However, certain attractions and dining options come with additional costs. Entry to Thrill Waterpark isn't included in your cruise fare and must be purchased through the shore excursions desk on your ship. Access to the zip line also requires an extra fee. If you want to use cabanas, you'll need to pay for them, with prices varying by cruise and location.

The good news is that your onboard drink package is also valid on the island.

Itineraries

A standard seven-night Royal Caribbean cruise in the Eastern Caribbean usually includes visits to St. Martin (Philipsburg), St. Thomas, and your classic visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay - Royal Caribbean’s private island. Occasionally, ports such as Puerto Rico (San Juan) or St. Kitts are also included in your itinerary, so keep an eye out for those.

During seven-night Western Caribbean voyages, Royal Caribbean often visits a mix of captivating destinations. These may include Mexico (Cozumel or Costa Maya), Honduras (Roatan), Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Belize. Some itineraries also feature stops at Royal Caribbean's private beach in Haiti, Labadee, as well as Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Southern Caribbean cruises offer a distinctive experience, visiting lesser-known islands that add a niche appeal to the itinerary. While some cruises include stops at popular destinations like St. Thomas and St. Martin, they also venture to Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent, Dominica, St. Lucia, Bonaire, Aruba, and Curacao.

Australia and New Zealand

Main destinations: Sydney, Brisbane, Wellington.

Most cruises to Australia and nearby islands depart from Sydney. Ovation of the Seas visits Australia at least once a year, and Quantum of the Seas also makes trips to the region. Cruise durations vary from 2 to 14 nights, with longer itineraries usually including stops in New Zealand, while shorter ones focus on destinations within Australia, such as Brisbane and Tasmania.

Itineraries

Short cruises in Australia typically visit domestic ports such as Sydney, Queensland, and Brisbane.

New Zealand cruises, lasting either 12 or 14 nights, offer the opportunity to explore Wellington, Christchurch, and additional destinations before returning to Sydney or Brisbane.

Alaska

Main destinations: Juneau, Anchorage, lots of fun land tours as well.

While Royal Caribbean may not be widely known for its Alaskan voyages, they do offer cruises to this destination. These cruises typically depart from Seattle, Washington, and last for 7 nights. Some are known as “Cruisetours”, combining the traditional cruise experience with included land expeditions. The Alaska cruise season goes from May to September.

Itineraries

Alaskan cruises typically include stops in Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, and Juneau. Some itineraries also visit Vancouver, Canada. Longer cruises often feature land tours to destinations like Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks.

Europe

Main Destinations: Italy, Spain, England, Greek Isles, Norwegian Fjords

Like any major cruise line, Royal Caribbean has a significant presence in Europe. There are about 80 different cruises that take you to explore different places in Europe! What's exciting is that some ships even sail from Boston, Massachusetts, heading to the Old Continent. These itineraries include stops in Greenland, which is part of Europe, right? Most of the other cruises depart from Italy, Spain and England.

Itinerary

Your best bet to explore Europe on a cruise is still by getting on a plane, traveling to Italy or Spain and then embarking there. Some classic cruises take you to explore some of the most important (and beautiful) cities in the world, like Barcelona and Rome. Some cruises also depart from Denmark and take you to see the Norwegian Fjords, which are absolutely gorgeous.

Some cruises, like the Western Mediterranean Cruise, will take you to Barcelona, Florence, Rome and Naples.

There are also cruises across the Greek Isles that depart from Rome and visit Athens, Mykonos and Santorini.

The longest European cruise is a 15-night Greenland cruise departing from Boston. Additionally, there is a 14-night cruise departing from Southampton, England, which visits Lisbon in Portugal and several cities in Spain including Barcelona, Valencia, and Málaga.

Asia

Main Destinations: Tokyo, Okinawa, Nagasaki, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong.

Most cruise ships in Asia set sail from Shanghai or Hong Kong, with additional departures from Singapore and Tokyo. Royal Caribbean has significantly expanded its presence in Asia over the past few years, now offering over fifty different cruises catering to the Chinese market.

Itineraries

One of the most exciting cruises, in my opinion, is the 15-night Tokyo to Seattle voyage aboard Anthem of the Seas. This cruise travels from Japan to the western coast of the United States, offering a fantastic vacation option. Imagine flying to Japan, exploring its cities for a few days, and then returning to the USA on a fun cruise. It sounds like the perfect getaway, with prices starting around $1300 per passenger.

Other cruise options include voyages to Bali, some exclusively focusing on China, or combining China with Japan for extended stays. Additionally, there are short, 4-night cruises with stops at South Korea.

Longer cruises include the 15-night Tokyo to Seattle trip or routes from Singapore to Tokyo, exploring Hong Kong with stops in Taiwan and South Korea. There are also extended cruises departing from Tokyo and Beijing to Singapore.
