A sparkling chest full of surprises is waiting for you in late December
Ohhh, this is exciting! We are less than a month away from the inaugural sailing of the Disney Treasure, departing from Port Canaveral on December 21, 2024. The Treasure is very similar to the Disney Wish - after all, they belong to the same class - but there are a few updates that might make it even better.
The Treasure focuses primarily on longer 7-night sailings to the Caribbean and Bahamas, while the Disney Wish specializes in shorter 3- to 4-night sailings. It also has several “world firsts” for passengers from across the globe, including a Coco-themed restaurant, a Moana-inspired stage show, and an incredible Haunted Mansion bar. Add to that lounges inspired by both The Lion King and Jungle Cruise, the Hero Zone and modern suites, and you might truly have a chest full of Treasure at your hands.
Disney Treasure vs Disney Wish

One of the main differences between the Disney Treasure and the Disney Wish is the trip length.
Similar to one of the distinctions between the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Treasure will focus on week-long vacations to the Caribbean and Bahamas, while the Wish specializes in shorter 3- and 4-night trips to these sunny destinations. In fact, every itinerary currently available for the Disney Treasure is a seven-night Western or Eastern Caribbean cruise. Both ships, however, include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, and depart from Port Canaveral, Florida.
The second major difference is a hallmark of Disney Cruise Line ships: the Disney Treasure introduces a brand-new show to the fleet. Disney The Tale of Moana will debut soon, retelling the story of the beloved movie with fan-favorite characters like Dwayne John--- Maui, that funny chicken Hei Hei, and, hopefully, the giant crab singing Shiny.
The other two shows aboard the Treasure are Beauty and the Beast and Disney Seas the Adventure. Honestly, the Treasure could very well rival the Disney Fantasy for having the best stage shows at sea. Beauty and the Beast is often regarded as one of the best stage productions on any cruise ship, so let’s wait and see how Moana will fare when she takes the stage to sing How Far I’ll Go. Only then can we decide if the Treasure truly wins the award for the best Disney Cruise Line shows.
Welcome, Miguel

Coco will also have a prominent presence aboard the Disney Treasure with Plaza de Coco. Since the Treasure focuses on 7-night sailings, you’ll dine here twice, with the restaurant offering unique atmospheres and menus each time.
On your first night, the experience will resemble a dinner stage show where Miguel sings and dances. On your second visit, the restaurant will transform to celebrate Día de los Muertos. Coco is undoubtedly one of the most underrated Disney movies of recent years, so it’s pretty cool to see it finally taking the spotlight.
The two other restaurants aboard the Disney Treasure - 1923 and Worlds of Marvel - are also featured on the Disney Wish. 1923 is an elegant, classy dining venue, while Worlds of Marvel centers around Ant-Man and a few other superheroes. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Worlds of Marvel, so I hope they tweak the show a bit. On the Wish, the original show depicts superheroes fighting atop that ship, so I’m curious to see how they’ll adapt the setpiece to fit the Disney Treasure.
Ghosts are also invited to play

Another super cool thing I’m excited about? The Haunted Mansion Parlor. This adults-only lounge appears to rival the Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge aboard the Disney Wish. Of course, it’s themed after the Haunted Mansion attraction, complete with ghostly visual effects on the walls and fireplace. I’m hoping to see staff members dressed as monsters or ghosts to enhance the eerie atmosphere, along with some clever Easter eggs for Disneyland and Disney World fans to enjoy an extra laugh.
There are also two other lounges inspired by Disney attractions: the Skipper Society, themed after Jungle Cruise, and Navigating the Deep Blue, inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage. Not much is known about them yet, so we’ll need to visit each one and experience them ourselves to decide if the atmosphere truly captures the magic.
The Disney Treasure also features some fan favorites that contributed to make the Wish so popular. The AquaMouse returns onboard, as does the Hero Zone, a huge and exciting space for kids to play. I’m hoping the AquaMouse on the Disney Treasure is slightly longer, as it feels a bit short on the Wish.
A good way to celebrate Christmas

We’re now counting down the weeks to the debut of the Disney Treasure. Honestly, it has everything it needs to be even better than the Disney Wish. I know many people prefer longer cruises, and the 7-night itineraries will make a big difference. Add in brand-new shows, restaurants, lounges, and meet-and-greets, and this ship has everything to make Mickey Mouse proud.
