The Most Romantic Sandals Resorts

Let’s count down the top 5 most romantic Sandals Resorts in 2025

Hello, and welcome to one of our most challenging articles in a while.

The reason is simple: every single Sandals resort is incredibly romantic. These are all adults-only, luxury resorts designed for couples in love, so, naturally, they exude that Romeo-and-Juliet atmosphere. Whether you're spending your honeymoon in Jamaica or sipping a piña colada with your boyfriend in Antigua, the romance is undeniable.

Still, we did our best to narrow down a list of 17 Sandals resorts to just 5. Our selection features some of the most romantic resorts in the Caribbean, whether it’s due to their beautiful beaches, tranquil and serene ambiance, lush gardens, or unique charm. These aren’t just resorts we think are amazing, they’re also highly praised worldwide on forums, Reddit, and in specialized articles.

Here is our list, where we also talk about the pros and cons of each resort:

5 - Sandals Royal Plantation

Sandals Royal Plantation resort entrance panorama.webp

  • Year: originally opened in 1957 as the Plantation Inn, multiple updates since then.
  • Location: Ochi, Jamaica
  • Good for: if you want a butler suite, if you are looking for a place that is quiet and charming, if you want to visit one of the most iconic Sandals Resorts with great user reviews, if you want a place that looks more rustic and elegant.

Sandals Royal Plantation has some of the best reviews for Sandals, for a very particular reason: people that come here know exactly what they are going to get. Royal Plantation is mostly made for older guests, those that want to experience a very chill atmosphere and want nothing but a butler suite.

The Good

Peaceful & romantic: Seriously, this might be the most peaceful Sandals resort… ever. Royal Plantation is small and compact, with private beaches and cozy pools, and it attracts guests that want nothing more than to just relax. Want to enjoy your coffee or read your book while you listen to the crashing waves or birds singing? Nope, you aren’t in a Disney movie, that’s just part of the Royal Plantation charm.

Golf: I'm no Tiger Woods. In fact, my knowledge of golf mostly comes from playing Mario Golf on my Nintendo 64. But what I do know is that Sandals Royal Plantation is a fantastic destination for golf enthusiasts. Just 15 minutes away from the resort, you'll find golf courses with complimentary transportation provided. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned player, there are courses available for all skill levels.

Butler Suites… everywhere: Yes, every single room at Sandals Royal Plantation is a butler suite. If you stay here, you’ll have access to a butler who is ready to assist with anything you need, from your morning coffee to various bookings and reservations. And you know what’s even better? Butler suites at Royal Plantation aren’t as expensive as you might think - you can book one for about $350 per guest, per day during the low season.

Great staff: What’s even better than butler suites? Great service from the butlers, of course! The staff at Royal Plantation consistently receives outstanding reviews from nearly every guest - just check Reddit and TripAdvisor. Since this is a small resort focused on personalized butler service, the staff members are highly experienced and know exactly what to do. They are more than ready to assist you with anything, anytime.

Sandals Ochi: Sandals Ochi is just five minutes away, with a free shuttle running from 7:45am to 11:45pm. If you want to experience more restaurants, pools, and activities, you should definitely visit Sandals Ochi, then return to Royal Plantation to relax and enjoy a romantic night with the love of your life. And yes, you can use all of Sandals Ochi’s amenities at no extra cost.

The Bad

Not much going on: There isn’t much happening at Sandals Royal Plantation, to be honest. It has fewer restaurants, activities, and parties than other Sandals resorts. Don’t come to Royal Plantation expecting an energetic lifestyle. Most of the guests here are a bit older, around 50 and up, and they typically come here to relax. However, you can always visit Sandals Ochi if you’re looking for a little extra excitement during your Jamaican getaway.

Outdated rooms: The rooms at Royal Plantation are a bit rustic, and some could use renovations. It’s not that they’re bad, just simpler compared to the Butler Suites at newer Sandals resorts. For example, many of the newer Butler Suites feature fitness rooms, private pools, tranquility soaking tubs, and other luxurious amenities that you won’t find at Royal Plantation. However, there’s an advantage to this: keeping the rooms more traditional helps keep the prices down, as a full renovation with updated rooms and features would likely increase the cost of staying at Royal Plantation.

4 - Sandals Saint Vincent

  • Year: 2024
  • Location: Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Good for: you want the newest Sandals resort, you want to try unique restaurants and activities, you want to visit a unique destination.

Sandals Saint Vincent is the latest addition to the roster of adults-only resorts and the first of its kind located on the beautiful island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. If you’re looking for something brand new, with fantastic new rooms and a few features exclusive to this resort, then you’ve come to the right place.

Didn’t you know that being new automatically makes it romantic? Yep, that’s how things work. Nothing more romantic than the fresh scent of a beautiful room, a modern swimming pool and grounds that still have fresh coats of paint.

The Good

Brand New: Ahhh, I do love new things. The rooms are so clean! The restaurants are so fresh! Even the air smells nice. Good news: Sandals Saint Vincent is barely six months old, having opened on March 27, 2024. When things are new, they’re often better and work smoothly. This means the chance of encountering issues in your room is significantly reduced, there will always be fresh paint on every building, and the property will be updated with the latest technology.

It’s beautiful: Seriously, this place looks amazing. This resort might be the only Sandals property situated in a valley between three mountains. Everywhere you look, you’re surrounded by lush green vegetation and stunning hills on all sides. The property itself is also very beautiful, and the new, more luxurious Butler Elite Suites add to its appeal. If you’re looking for a stunning and romantic resort, you can’t go wrong with Sandals Saint Vincent.

Friendly Staff: The staff at Sandals Saint Vincent is already highly regarded as some of the friendliest among all Sandals properties. This includes waiters, housekeepers, butlers, gardeners, and essentially everyone on the team. There may be a reason for this high praise: Sandals hires locals to work at their properties, and they did the same at Saint Vincent, providing them with at least a year of training. Staff members are still considered brand new, and there is a good chance that they want to show what they are capable of. Or, perhaps, that’s just the spirit of Saint Vincent.

The Butler Elite Suites: There are new butler suite rooms at Sandals Saint Vincent, including the Beachfront Butler Villa Suites, which offer an exclusive view of the beach and its pristine white sand, and also come with a private pool. There’s also a unique perk for booking a Butler Suite that you might not know about: instead of arriving by private car, you can board a boat and reach the island in style! This is a fantastic option for those who may feel motion sickness in a car and provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a fresh perspective of the mountains and the beautiful surroundings.

The Bad

Getting there: This issue actually consists of two parts. First, getting to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines can be more challenging than usual. Flights are limited and tend to be quite expensive depending on the time of year. I recommend checking flight options before booking the resort to find the best time to visit. The second issue arises once you’re in Saint Vincent and traveling to the resort. The drive takes approximately 40 minutes to an hour, winding through the mountains with many twists and turns. If you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s a good idea to take some medication before boarding the bus. However, this problem can be mitigated if you book a Butler Suite and opt to arrive by boat.

3 - Sandals Grande St. Lucian

Sandals Grande Antigua Luxury Room.webp

  • Year: 1999
  • Location: St. Lucia
  • Good for: you want the best Sandals Resort in Saint Lucia, you want great dining options, you love playing golf, you want a beautiful beach.

Planning a fun trip to Saint Lucia? Let me tell you, there are plenty of options when it comes to choosing a Sandals Resort on this beautiful and unique island. You can stay at Sandals Regency La Toc, Sandals Halcyon Beach, or Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Did you know that you can move between these three resorts by hopping on a free shuttle, allowing you to enjoy all their activities and restaurants at no additional cost? Yep, there’s a lot to love about Saint Lucia!

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is likely the best resort in Saint Lucia for those who love a great beach and fantastic restaurants. This is also the best Sandals Resort in Saint Lucia for those seeking an extra level of luxury. I won’t claim that Sandals Grande St. Lucian is brand new or that the rooms have a super modern look. In fact, I think some updates could make it even better, but this seems to be the norm at Sandals resorts in Saint Lucia. Rooms are a bit more rustic, which helps keep prices lower.

The Good

The most fancy Sandals in Saint Lucia: you read that right, my friend. This is the perfect spot for those seeking a touch more luxury in Saint Lucia. Sandals Grande St. Lucian is the only Sandals on the island with overwater bungalows, essentially houses built above the ocean. This means you can step right outside and practically dive into the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. These rooms are pricier than standard accommodations, of course, but they elevate the romantic atmosphere to new heights.

Pigeon Island: Sandals Grande St. Lucian is also very close to Pigeon Island, a national park and landmark in Saint Lucia. There's now a man-made causeway that connects you to the island, which is just half a mile from the resort! You can explore, hike, take in the stunning views, and enjoy a romantic time with your significant other. Now, do they have pigeons there? I’m not sure.

Three Sandals Resorts: Staying at Sandals Grande St. Lucian gives you the opportunity to visit the other two Sandals resorts for free, allowing you to enjoy all their activities and restaurants. Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located in the northern part of the island, Sandals Halcyon Beach is more centrally located, and Sandals Regency La Toc is further south. Regency La Toc is about 30 minutes from Halcyon and an hour from Grande St. Lucian, with complimentary Sandals shuttles available to transport guests between the resorts.

Beach: This resort features a great beach, likely the best one among Sandals resorts in Saint Lucia. While it’s not a private beach, it is primarily used by resort guests. The beach is situated between Pigeon Island and Rodney Bay, boasting calm, crystal-clear waters and plenty of spots for you to relax on the sand.

Golf: I know nothing about golf, but I do know that there is a golf course about 25 minutes away from Sandals Grande St. Lucian. You can go there and try all your birdies, eagles and falcons if you so desire.

The Bad

Getting there: Sandals Grande St. Lucian is located in the north of the island, while the international airport is in the south. The journey can take up to 90 minutes, and due to the many hills in Saint Lucia, you’ll encounter a lot of winding roads. This can be challenging for those prone to motion sickness, so make sure to take your medicine before boarding the complimentary shuttle. Alternatively, you can pay extra to take a helicopter or ferry to Sandals Grande St. Lucian.

2 - Sandals Royal Curaçao

Sandals Royal Curaçao night entrance pool.webp

  • Year: 2022
  • Location: Curaçao
  • Good for: those that want to explore Curaçao, if you want to explore unique Sandals restaurants, you want a beautiful, well-maintained resort with great spots for pictures.

Welcome to Sandals' first-ever beach resort on the beautiful island of Curaçao! Before anything else, let me tell you that this island is absolutely gorgeous, filled with cozy little cottages that make you feel like you're walking in a fantasy wonderland.
The beach resort is just as beautiful as the island, by the way. Sandals Royal Curaçao launched in 2022 and, like the newest Sandals resorts, is considered part of the Sandals 2.0 collection. What does that mean? It means Sandals is introducing some completely new, innovative and awesome features.

The Good

Sandals 2.0: Some of the newest Sandals resorts are now called "Sandals 2.0" because they bring something entirely unique to the traditional Sandals experience. Sandals Royal Curaçao is a perfect example. The resort features an amazing layout with lush gardens and beautiful flowers, brand-new restaurants exclusive to Curaçao, a two-level infinity pool, and even the opportunity to drive a Mini Cooper if you stay in one of the top-tier Butler Elite Suites. This is a fantastic resort that demonstrates Sandals' commitment to innovation and the future of the brand.

It's Beaaaautiful: Do you love the idea of a romantic, brand-new, and gorgeous resort? Of course you do, that’s why you are reading this article! Sandals Royal Curaçao is stunning. Many of the buildings resemble classic cottages from medieval movies, giving the resort a fairytale charm. The grounds are equally beautiful, filled with lush trees, vibrant gardens, and plenty of romantic spots to create lifelong memories. You'll find hammocks scattered throughout, lounge chairs, and everything else waiting for you and the love of your life.

Some of the Best Sandals Restaurants: Thanks to Sandals 2.0, Sandals Royal Curaçao has some of the best restaurants across all Sandals resorts, all included in your stay. Names like Gatsu Gatsu, Butch’s Island Chop House, Zuka, and Strand are definitely worth your time at least once. If you enjoy the Soy Sushi Bar at other Sandals resorts, you'll love the sushi offered at Gatsu Gatsu. There are also three food trucks scattered throughout the resort, offering comfort food for those looking for a quick bite. A romantic resort with good food? Yeah, can’t ask for much more.

Great pools: Technically, there are multiple pools at Sandals Royal Curaçao if you count the swim-up pools that belong to some Club Level Rooms and Butler Elite Suites. We decided to put “Great Pools” here mainly because of the infinity pool right in front of the beach. This is a double-deck (or double layer? I never know the right name) infinity pool that looks absolutely amazing. It’s like a big, beautiful box with transparent walls that mixes with another infinity pool, and then the beach! Its like an infinity poolception, and it's great.

The Bad

The Beaches: There are two beaches at Sandals Royal Curaçao, but neither is particularly impressive. The main beach, located just in front of the infinity pool, is rocky and not great for swimming. The other beach, located on the western side, is limited by a pier and faces a canal. While it’s okay for a quick dip, it’s not great for snorkeling or water activities. If you primarily choose a beach resort for its beautiful beaches, then Sandals Royal Curaçao might not be the right fit for you.

A Few Nitpicks: There are some minor issues that don’t warrant their own sections, so I’ll address them here. As I mentioned earlier, the resort can be a bit noisy, especially if you stay in some of the Luxury Rooms near the main pool. From there, you might hear noise from the rooms above, room service, and some of the parties taking place at the beach. Another minor concern is that service at some bars and food trucks can be a bit slow, with drinks taking a while to arrive. However, Sandals has already acknowledged this and is working to improve it.

1 - Sandals South Coast

Sandals South Coast new rooms.webp

  • Year: 2023
  • Location: White House, Jamaica
  • Good for: you want a quiet and peaceful resort, you want to try some of the best (and most romantic) rooms Sandals has to offer, you are looking to get married

Sandals South Coast isn’t exactly the first beach resort that comes to mind when thinking about Jamaica. There’s a good chance guests may prefer to stay at Sandals Dunn’s River or Sandals Montego Bay, located on the island’s east coast, or Sandals Negril on the west coast. Sandals South Coast - believe it or not - is located on the south coast, making it a more unique, niche destination that is fairly underrated. This small piece of paradise is known for its amazing beaches, water activities, and a sprawling, incredibly romantic resort.

Sandals South Coast is gorgeous, known as a very romantic resort for many reasons, one being how impeccably maintained the entire property is. Trees, gardens, and flowers are everywhere, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it feel like a sanctuary designed just for you and your significant other.

The Good

Price: Sandals South Coast is considered the second cheapest Sandals in the world. You can find rooms for as low as $200, which is great news for those that want to enjoy a great beach, awesome pools and also enjoy a very romantic resort. The funny thing is that Sandals South Coast can also be one of the most expensive resorts in Jamaica if you wish, since the Overwater Villas cost around $1700. Now that’s a big price difference between rooms, but that also means that you have a ton of options in this resort.

Very Romantic: This is a beautiful resort for those who want to spend quality time with the love of their lives. Sandals South Coast is secluded, meaning the beaches are often empty. It’s also a large resort, featuring many cool things to see and plenty of places where you can enjoy a quiet moment. The staff is friendly, the grounds are clean, and the atmosphere is fantastic if you’re seeking that perfect romantic getaway.

Beach & Pools: Sandals South Coast is a great option for those that love pools and a nice beach - and that’s probably you if you are reading about a beach resort, huh? Sandals South Coast features one of the biggest pools in the Caribbean, and the beach is huge and basically private, since it’s located in such a secluded spot in Jamaica.

The Overwater Villas: Sandals South Coast gives you the opportunity to stay in one of the most luxurious, beautiful and expensive Sandals rooms ever. We are talking about the Overwater Villas, which are rooms located right there in the ocean. Well, above the ocean, thankfully. These Butler Suites are perfect to take your romantic vacation to brand new heights, being incredibly unique, cozy and beautiful. Guests of Overwater Villas also get a private transfer from the airport to the resort in a luxurious car.

Great for… getting married: Surprise! This is one of the best resorts if you plan on getting married. Not only is Sandals South Coast beautiful, secluded, and very romantic, but it also features an over-water wedding chapel that looks absolutely mesmerizing. If you’ve ever thought about getting married in Jamaica, this is definitely a resort to consider, especially since the staff is well-trained and experienced in hosting memorable weddings here.

The Bad

Ride from the airport: Sandals South Coast is located far away from Sangster International Airport (MBJ). The entire trip to the resort takes about 90 minutes, and the roads are narrow and windy. If you are prone to motion sickness, you should definitely take some medicine before boarding the bus. This is the top complaint that guests have about this beautiful resort. What you can do is try to hire a helicopter service that takes you to Sandals. You can probably find a service like that in the airport, and it usually costs $1400 for 4 passengers.

Spread Out: Sandals South Coast is huge. Everything is quite spread out, and it may take you a lot  of time to reach certain restaurants, depending on your location. While there are advantages to this layout, such as a quieter and more secluded atmosphere, it can be challenging for those with mobility issues or for guests staying far from their favorite dining spots. Be prepared to do a lot of walking if you decide to stay here.
